Public Innovation for Refugee Mobility

This project explores how civic design, applied within an academic setting, can shape public innovation. Conducted in Rochester, New York, the project examined how refugee communities experience and navigate the city’s public transportation system. Through participatory research and design-for-policy methods, students collaborated with local resettlement agencies, educators, and community members to understand the barriers refugees face in mobility — and to imagine policy-scale interventions to reduce them.
